Which extras can you book with your car?

If you're going on a family vacation, such as a ski trip, you might need additional options like a child seat, winter tires, or a roof box. Extras such as GPS or an additional driver can also be useful, especially for longer distances. These extras are available upon request and are offered through local rental partners. Therefore, availability cannot be guaranteed, and in most cases, you'll need to pay a surcharge and a deposit on-site.
Child seats
In most European countries and a large part of the USA, child seats are mandatory for children up to 6 years old. These must be reserved in advance. The costs vary by country and location and are displayed when you add the child seat during the booking process. You pay for the child seat when you pick up your rental car.
GPS
In unfamiliar destinations, having a GPS is convenient. When renting a car in the United States or Canada, it's recommended to choose a vehicle with a navigation system. During booking, you can select a package that includes GPS, such as the Gold + GPS package.
Winter Tires
For trips to countries where winter tires are mandatory, they are automatically included in the rental price when you rent a car between approximately November 1 and March 31. This applies to countries such as Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Finland, and Iceland. In other countries where winter tires are not mandatory, you can sometimes request them. In that case, the costs are usually not included. It's advisable to check the conditions of your destination in advance, as it's not possible to reserve a car with winter or all-season tires at every location.
Additional Driver
Adding an extra driver can be very practical, especially for longer trips, as you can take turns driving and make the journey more comfortable. Be aware that some destinations may charge an additional fee for a second driver. All drivers must be present in person when picking up the rental car, present a valid driver's license, and sign the rental agreement. The primary driver must also present a credit card in their name. In New York, this requirement also applies to additional drivers: they must present a credit card in their own name. The rental conditions for each country provide more information about any additional costs.
In North America, if you're married or living together, your partner can often be added as an additional driver at no extra cost. If you choose an Alamo Gold or Gold Underage package, you can add up to three additional drivers for free when picking up the rental car.
Extra options included in the rate
Some extra options for the rental car can be booked through Alamo.nl within a package deal. These are the GPS and the extra bestuurder (Fully Inclusive and Gold + GPS rate). The costs for these extras are included in the rental rate when you book these package deals. The costs and the rental conditions for all extra options that are to be paid at the pick-up location can change without any prior notice and they are subject to local taxes and/or local regulations.
