Your rental car adequately insured
Nothing is more important than feeling secure when you are on the road. In Europe insurance is often different from in the United States or Canada. and sometimes a certain form of insurance is included in the car rental rate. It is important to know that your rental car is well insured. Please take the following into account.
Theft insurance
All rental cars are insured against theft. Depending on the country where you pick up the car a deductible excess may apply.
CDW – Collission Damage Waiver
There are several names for this insurance policy that will cover the damage to the own car. This form of insurance is included in all our rates but depending on the country where you pick up the car a deductible excess may apply.
Deductible excess
Europe
The amount of the deductible excess depends on the country and car type. You can find this in the terms and conditions for the country of your destination.
North-America
In the USA there is no deductible excess, for Canada the amount of the deductible excess is CA$ 500,-.
South and Central America
The amount of the deductible excess depends on the country and car type. You can find this in the terms and conditions for the country of your destination.
Extended Protection
This form of insurance only exists in the USA and Canada and raises the legal minimum amount of the liability insurance up to 1 million dollars. This insurance is included in all our rates. In the USA there is no deductible excess, for Canada the amount of the deductible excess is CA$ 500,-.
Super CDW/Excess Protection
In Europe this form of insurance is available to cover the deductible excess in case of damage or theft. You can buy this extra insurance at the pick-up location. In the terms and conditions of each country you can find the costs of this type of insurance. If you choose to not buy this insurance at the counter, the pick-up location will charge you the amount of the deductible excess as a deposit, even if you chose the option of a No Risk Warranty when you booked the rental car.
Damage to tires, undercarriage or windscreens
Damage to tires, undercarriage or windscreens is never covered by the insurance on the rental car. Sometimes it is possible to get a special insurance for this at the rental location. In North America for instance you can choose to get the Roadside Service Plan.
Roadside Service Plan
The Roadside Service Plan is not included in our rates and you can get it from $6,99 a day at the rental location. The Roadside Service Plan is not mandatory. It will cover the following:
- Replacement of the key
- Costs if you lock yourself out of the car
- Jump start
- Costs of filling up an empty fuel tank if you forgot to get gas
- Flat tire and replacing a tire
- Towing costs
No Risk Warranty
The option of a No-Risk Warranty is offered to you by Target Travel. Upon booking a rental car you can choose whether you want to get this extra insurance or not. With the No Risk Warranty any deductible excess is covered up to an amount of €1.500,-. If you choose to get the No Risk Warranty upon booking, employees at the counter of the pick-up location will warn you that you are not fully insured because this product is not known to them. If you do not take the offered extra insurance at the counter then bear in mind that the rental location will put a hold on your credit card for the amount of the deposit. If you do get the offered extra insurance at the pick-up location and sign for this, you will not be refunded for the money you paid.
